Belleek Limpet Yellow Lustre Parian Ware Teacup and Saucer, Vintage
A vintage Limpet Yellow pattern Parian ware teacup and saucer from the Irish Ceramics maker, Belleek.
Belleek's Limpet pattern is inspired by the sea: shapes apparent include the ridged patterns of limpet shells on the body of the teacup and coral shaped handle.
The Belleek factory began the production of fine Parian ware at Belleek, Fermanagh, Ireland (now Northern Ireland) in 1857 using local deposits of white feldspar and Cornish china clay.
This eggshell porcelain with a white lustre finish enjoyed great popularity during the Victorian era.
It is still produced today in current styles and with continued production of traditional 19th century designs.
The clear makers mark on the base indicates that this teapot was made between the years 1946 to 1955.
In excellent condition.
