Blue Mountain, Pottery, Dog, Cocker, Spaniel, Figurine, Ceramic, Harvest Gold, Yellow, Mid-Century, Vintage
A good sized vintage mid-century ceramic figurine of a cocker spaniel dog figurine from Canada's Blue Mountain Pottery Company.
This reclined dog figurine is in the more unusual and more difficult to find "Harvest Gold" glaze with dripped ochre, yellow and brown hues. This is an example of Blue Mountain work which was produced in the 1960's.
The base edge retains some felt which was added to prevent the figurine from scuffing furniture surfaces. This felt may be removed or one may consider using it as is.
Blue Mountain Pottery began producing their red brown clay creations in the early 1950's in Ontario, Canada near Collingwood. They produced hostess ware and figurines with a "reflowing decorating" named process in which a double glaze of separate light and dark glazes ran through each other during the firing process, resulting in unique glaze patterns in each item produced. The glazes produced were several: Harvest Gold, Mocca(light brown), Cobalt Blue, Pewter, Red, Brown and more. The most recognizable and prevalent hue is the blue turquoise glaze.
Blue Mountain was particularly popular as a mid-century decor addition, particularly in the 1950s through the 1970s. The company ceased operations in 2004.
In excellent condition.
