Royal Doulton, The Genie, Male, Figurine, HN2989, Middle Eastern Heritage Series, Vintage, England, Robert Tabbenor, 1983 to 1990
A vintage fine bone china male figurine, The genie, HN2989, from Royal Doulton's Middle Eastern Heritage Series.
A very collectible figurine which is SO not your usual Royal Doulton. This figurine depicts a very tall and thin gentleman with a partially shaved head with a retained black topknot gathered into a short pony tail on the top of his head. He is bare chested. A dark blue hued cloak is fastened at his neck with a large golden clasp. At his left foot a golden oil lantern is painted from which issues white/grey smoke, from which the genie himself appears to be emanating.
Created in England between 1983 to 1990 by artist Robert Tabbenor, in the years before production of these finely made items was move overseas.
Stands about 10" high.
In very good condition (please see images).
A particularly nice and unusual example of a more exotic type of figurine genre produced by England's Royal Doulton
