Royal Winton, Grimwades, Pekin, 1935, Breakfast Set, Teapot, teacup, Tray, Cream, Sugar, Toast Rack, Vintage, Ceramic, England
A pretty but very RARE vintage chintz (on black) Breakfast Set in the Pekin pattern from Royal Winton, Grimwades, made in England.
The popular "Pekin" pattern is an example of the fascination that the Western world had for Asian themed items. This particular pattern is set upon a black background with the lighter hued oriental themed images (including Pagodas and people in Asian clothing) marked over the entirety of the pattern face (chintz style).
ALL pieces of this set are present: tray, teapot, cream, sugar, toast rack, and tea cup. Definitely a rarity!
A vintage set in good condition with some age with very little, if any, light wear commensurate with age (please refer to images). Very light crackling can be seen on most of the pieces of this set. This is fairly typical of wares of this age from this maker. Sadly, there is one small chip on the underside of the spout of the teapot (please refer to images), but otherwise there are no other discernible cracks, chips or other damage that we can see.
The makers printed mark on the underside of this plate indicates that this item was manufactured in England in the 1930s, (specifically, 1935).
This unusual set has been priced with all matters above taken into consideration.
