Nippon

SOLD Nippon Cup and Saucer (1921)

$25.00

SOLD Nippon cup and saucer, circa 1921.

Nippon is an old name for Japan.  The use of the term "Nippon" was often used on items produced in Japan for export.

A combination of transfer and hand painting.  Pale pink flowers (chrysanthemums?) and delicate pale turqoise with gold make up the border edging.  A bit of an art deco appearance with this very detailed moriage style pattern.

The edges and handle are gilded.

Very translucent and delicate.  A bit smaller than a regular cup and saucer set.

Cup: 4.2" long 3.5" wide 2.25" tall

Plate: 5.6" wide 1" tall
