Vintage Damascene Silver Buckle, Silver Belt Buckle, Sterling Silver, Belt Buckle, Silver, Vintage
A very beautiful and unique piece - a vintage shaped silver damascene belt buckle featuring a miniature sword that fastens two buckle pieces together.
Damascene technique features the art of inlaying different metals into one another—to produce intricate patterns like the ones featured on this great vintage piece. Floral patterns curl about at the center point of the buckle. Two different scenes are depicted on either side of the buckle. One features a ship at sea and the other a landscape of older urban structures.
This buckle has two sides that fit together and are held in place by a small sword linked to the buckle by a small chain.
The origin of this buckle is unknown. It is not a typical western style and it is possible that is was created somewhere in the Middle East. The workmanship is excellent.
